The school has achieved great research results in the following fields: Number Theory & Application, Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Complex Function, Numerical Method of Differential Equation, Computing Methods for Science and Engineering and Applied Software, Control Theory of Stochastic System and Distribution Parameter System, Engineering Control, Graph Theory, Operational Research and its Application in National Economy, Biofluid Mechanics & Application.

25 research projects have won the National Awards in Natural Science, National Awards of Outstanding Achievements in Teaching, and the Scientific and Technological Progress Awards at the provincial and ministerial levels. Among the awarded scientists, Prof. Pan Chengdong, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who won the first class National Prize in Natural Science for his outstanding contribution to "Goldbach Conjecture". Prof. Peng Shige won the second class National Prize in Natural Science, and Prof. Yuan Yirang won the first class National Award of Outstanding Achievements in Teaching.
